Frequently asked questions
FAQ's
Reformer Pilates is a full-body workout performed on a Reformer machine using springs and resistance to build strength, improve posture, increase flexibility and support overall wellness.
Our classes are designed to challenge you in a low impact, controlled way that leaves you feeling stronger, more connected and energised.
Our foundation classes are the perfect place to begin. These sessions are designed for beginners and are aimed at focusing on learning the fundamentals, building confidence and understanding the Reformer at your own pace in a supportive enviroment.
At KOVA, we currently offer three signature class styles:
Foundation — Beginner-friendly classes focused on technique, control and confidence building.
Strength — A more energising, resistance-based class designed to challenge the body, build strength and leave you feeling empowered.
Form — A slower paced, calming class centred around mobility, flexibility, stretch and mindful movement.
Yes, Reformer Pilates truly is for everybody. Whether you are completely new to exercise or already enjoying other forms of training, our small class sizes allow for guidance, support and modifications where needed.
We keep our classes intentionally small with a maximum of 5 Reformer beds per session. This allows for a more personalised experience and ensures every client receives individual attention throughout class.
We recommend comfortable activewear that allows you to move freely. Grip socks must be worn during all Reformer classes for both hygiene and safety purposes.
KOVA branded grip socks are available to purchase in the studio for £7.00 per pair.
We also advise avoiding overly loose clothing, as this can make it more difficult for your instructor to clearly see your alignment and movement patterns. Correct form and safe technique are at the heart of what we do, and this helps us ensure you are moving safely, effectively and getting the most out of every session.
That said, please wear whatever feels best for you and what you feel most comfortable and confident in. The most important thing is that you feel at ease throughout your practice.
Please aim to arrive around 10 minutes before your class begins. This gives you time to settle in, get comfortable and prepare for your session.
To maintain the flow and safety of the class, late arrivals may not be permitted entry once the session has started. If the studio door is closed, this means class is in progress and entry will unfortunately be denied.
Your first class at KOVA is designed to feel welcoming, relaxed and completely pressure-free. The atmosphere is friendly and inclusive, and you’ll be fully guided throughout so you feel confident and supported from the moment you arrive.
On arrival, if the studio door is closed, please wait in the small waiting nook inside the gym, directly opposite the Bake & Blend café. Once the previous class has finished and the door is open, you’re welcome to head upstairs and get settled.
We have a designated area to leave your shoes, coats and belongings before heading into the studio space.
From there, simply choose a reformer bed ps. there’s no assigned spots here… but don’t be surprised if you end up claiming your favourite one pretty quickly.
Class will begin with a full introduction and guidance from your instructor, and we’ll talk you through everything step by step so you feel confident using the reformer. You’ll be fully supported throughout, with plenty of coaching, encouragement and modifications where needed.
And after class… we highly recommend treating yourself to an açai bowl or matcha from Bake & Blend chef’s kiss✨
Yes — there is parking directly outside the gym as well as roadside parking nearby for convenience.
Absolutely! However, all clients must complete a PAR-Q health screening form before attending class. This allows us to understand any injuries, medical conditions or limitations so exercises can be adapted where appropriate.
If you are unsure whether Reformer Pilates is suitable for you, please contact us before booking and we will be happy to guide you.
We are currently in the process of expanding our training to specialise in Pre and Postnatal Reformer Pilates, with dedicated classes coming in the future.
For postnatal clients, as a general guideline, it is usually considered safe to return to gentle exercise after around 6 weeks, or after your postnatal check and once you’ve been cleared by a medical professional.
If you’ve had a C-section, we typically recommend waiting around 12 weeks, or until your postnatal check and medical clearance, before returning to exercise.
We’ll always support you with suitable modifications where needed, helping you ease back into movement safely, confidently and at your own pace.
Our memberships are designed to give you flexibility without any long-term contracts or lock-in commitments.
Please note:
Memberships do not renew automatically and will need to be manually renewed each month.
You will receive reminders when your membership is due to expire or when your class credits are running low.
Class credits do not roll over into the next month.
Pay as you go and class passes are valid for 30 days from first use.
This allows you to choose a membership option that best suits your lifestyle and routine each month.
Consistency is key. Even attending 1–2 classes per week can help improve strength, posture, mobility and overall body awareness.
As Joseph Pilates famously said: “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see the difference and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body.”
With regular practice, you can expect to see improvements in flexibility, mobility, strength and movement quality. However, to maximise results, we always recommend combining Reformer Pilates with other forms of movement such as strength training, cardio, walking and maintaining a healthy balanced lifestyle.
Most importantly, always listen to your body and move in a way that feels good for you. Every body is different, and Everybody is welcome at KOVA.
